  • Hey @thrandor, I see you are still using Yoast on the website you posted — that is not a big deal as it is still a very solid SEO plugin, but if you decide to give it another try, just reply here and I’ll try to help you. I’ve migrated couple of dozens websites from Yoast, it is pretty straight forward and it takes 10-60 minutes. The guide @barnez linked should be sufficient, but if you have any concerns or questions before migration, simply reply here ?? In any case, have a nice day!

@lebaux can you confirm if SEO Data Transporter is able to transfer all the custom post SEO description and titles from Yoast SEO to The SEO Framework following the guide linked by @barnez

Hi @stepunk, nice to see you back! ?? I just tested latest version of both Yoast and TSF and the process went without a hitch. I recommend you backup your whole website before doing the switch anyway (MySQL database should be enough, but you can throw in FTP too for good measure).

One thing you should be aware though, the data are converted, so if you reactivate Yoast, you need to convert them back from TSF. But it works both ways, and I wasn’t able to lose metadata when switching back and forth 2 times. So in conclusion, I’m fairly confident the your custom titles and meta desc should be fine. One thing that might need tunning is titles, since they are transported as is, so sometimes after transport it results into something like Post title | Blog tagline | Blog tagline so one have to manually strip the duplicity. If you have thousands of pages & posts this might be a problem, if you are on dozens it is question of 10 minutes. This is fairly dependent how you run your blog and how you set up Yoast, but I’m just throwing it out there as a fair warning. That is why backups are important ??

Note that you can’t transfer SEO settings at the moment, so you need to configure TSF — transporter only carries over metadata, not settings from Yoast to TSF. This shouldn’t be too concerning though, since TSF is preconfigured with optimal SEO settings out of the box.

I hope this helps and your switch will be smooth! If you run into issues, reply here and I will do my best to help you ?? If not, welcome on board and enjoy your ride with us!
