• Hi,

I am running a multi-user (buddypress) site as an scholars literature research archive. Our project adds media to media library and then posts it to front end for scholars to access and study and write about. We are trying to create a scenario where when we publish media to a new page/post, a user could add that media to a new page/post of their own to write about it from the front end. Currently, they can locate all media from library, but the media library is not an ideal interface for organizing and locating various kinds of media. Therefore, we were wondering what would be involved in developing a “button event” where a user clicks on an icon embedded on a front-end media view (lightbox for example) that would copy the media file and embed it into a new post/page for that user (w/o reproducing a new media file/url in library).

I’m even imagining a scenario where other wordpress projects may want a similar function. e.g., i’m a project builder who uses my own front-end galleries to view my media (rather than library) and would like to select media from front end and move to new composition space. The front-end editor addon might create more scenarios where WP builders see a need to for this feature. Let’s get out of the back-end!

Any possible advice would be greatly appreciated! Particularly w/ what the technical language/process would be for designing and implementing such a function in our wordpress.

    Thanks!

    Ben
