• Hi there

I would like the front page to show only a selected category from my list of categories.
This i can′t seem to find a solution for.

I used the Menu function, to build a menu based on categories. So it′s now possible to choose between the different categories, with no problem. But I would like the front page to be showing – “only one category”. not all posts.
I have deleted all pages, so I only have one (the blog). And that leaves me whit a frontpage showing all posts…

Is this possible ? if so – how? I can′t see the settings for this… ?

thanks for a great product and service! ??

    All the best!
    /S?ren

Hi S?ren, displaying only selected categories on the front page could be done in a couple of ways.

Normally, you could create a child theme and in one of your child’s template files, modify the loop to include only your desired categories. In the case of Cubic, though, it’s already a child theme of Boardwalk so you wouldn’t be able to make a child theme of Cubic.

Another way to go would be to look for a plugin that allows you to specify which categories are displayed on the blog index. You could have a look in the plugin repo for various keywords. For example:

    Hi Kathryn

    Thank you for the info.
i′m not running a www.ads-software.com.. it′s simply the .com solution, and unfortunately i′m pretty new in this. When checking out the /mcatfiler I understand it to be for WP.org (correct?) start editing Child themes seems to be a bit too advanced for me..

I like the Cubic theme design, due to the featured images shown on frontpage. I would like to keep that ??
Hopefully i can find a plugin.
    Thanks for your help.

    HI S?ren – thanks for clarifying that you’re running a WordPress.com site.

Child themes and plugins aren’t something you can use over at WordPress.com, which is a shared platform. They’re techniques that can be used only on self-hosted sites.

These forums are for folks running WordPress on their own hosting.

If you need more help with your WordPress.com site, you can post in the forums over there:

ohh I see. I′m sorry for that.
I did try to post in the Wp.com / cubric theme support forum, and was send to this (and asked to log in to .org) i didn′t make sense for me, and now I see why ??

Any way – many thanks for trying to help a n00b like me ??

    all the best !

Ah, sorry you’ve been sent from forum to forum!

I couldn’t find any recent forum threads from you over there, but if you post a link to your thread here I’ll make sure someone takes a look at it. You can also add the tag modlook to the tags area of a thread over at WordPress.com to be sure a staff member see it.
