Front page for child theme

    I placed a ‘front-page.php’ file in my child theme directory. However, the child theme continues to load the parent’s ‘front-page.php’. I’m probably dense but didn’t find a solution at “www.ads-software.com“. Will appreciate any help in solving this.

  • what theme are you working with?

    what files do you have in the child theme?
    do you have any sub-folders in the child theme?

    does the problem continue when you temporarily deactivate all plugins?

    1- I’m using a custom made theme.
    2- An images folder, a functions.php and a style css.
    3- None, other than the one for images.
    4- Haven’t disabled plugins, but don’t think they are the problem.

    start with the ‘plugin’ troubleshooting route.

    if deactivating all plugins solves the issue, then re-activate one plugin at a time to locate the one with the issue.

    what is the code of your front-page.php as compared to the one of the parent theme?

    is there any code in functions.php of your child theme which could interfere with the templates?

    are you using any cache plugins?

    Dear Michael … my apology for not contacting you earlier. I decided to go the easy way, after disabling all plugins to no avail; I got rid of front-page.php and page.php. Maybe I’ll re-visit this in the future. Thanks, and the best to you anyway.
