• Hi,

I just recently started a blog with wp 2.2
And as soon as I got into it, I started to make some changes to the default Kubrick theme. Everything seemed to work fine but then the front page got messed up. The side bar is just showing anywhere at the end of the page and the footer doesn’t fit with the rest of the template neither.

What I don’t understand is that everything seems to work fine on all other pages. And although I copied the original files back to my theme directory and activated the “old” theme again there was no change to this sitation.

Check out my site to take a look at it:

Did someone experience the same problem? Can someone help me to get back to normal?

    Thanks a lot!

I just wanted to let you know that I think the problem was due to the sticky post plugin.

I made a post to an annoucement and this for at least 4 days. Thus the post was always showing on up on top with my normal postings going on.

So when I put the annoucement back to normal post, everything was back to normal to.

I really don’t know what happend this time but the front page is messed up again.

Last time it was due to the sticky post plugin (at least this is what I assume).

This time it might be in relation with the poll plugin but I’m not sure about it. If you could help me I would really appreaciate ’cause my site looks kind of ugly this way.

    Thanks for any help.

“Messed up” is not a precise technical description of what is going on.

You have your sidebar going down… most likely because of “big” things you are putting into it. If you suspect it is a plugin: remove it! Check. If it works, don’t use the plugin. It is that simple.

On the other hand: if you want to pack your sidebar with all kind of stuff… get another theme.

    Thanks moshu. I’ll check that.

Okay, this starts to make me crazy. It’s starting all over again. I can’t exactly figure out what’s happening all the time. But somehow my “home” page is “messed up” again. I already tried to figure out if there’s a problem with the sidebar, a plugin or anything else I recently changed on the site. I didn’t change the theme tough but I’m working on doing a theme on my own and don’t want to change up to then.

What’s a good plan to run to figure out where the problem could be?

Thanks a lot. This community is really great, especially for those who are not in their comfort zone with coding.

Those that “are not in their comfort zone with coding”… shouldn’t mess with the code.

(I don’t repair my car because car mechanics is out of my comfort zone ??

You’re right – learning by doing. You can’t stay out of everything that’s not comforting you, face it.

That’s why I use a local installation of my WP and do all the experimental stuff there. And the things I changed lately didn’t change anything on my local WP but did change online.

It’s not that much of a problem for me. All the other pages work normally – it’s just for the beauty of it.

    Anyway thx.

I suppose that it has nothing to do with plugins. It happend again and I noticed that the problems probably connects with my post. When I posted my last article the sidebar was removed to the bottom page again.

Does anybody experience the same problem? Besides, I’m using WP 2.3 now – Thx!
