Front Page issue – Snippet Shows but not static page content

I am using the Theme Personal Portfolio Freemium. I made the Front Page a static page and put the data onto the page. When I preview the page, it shows the snippet below the sliding pictures and not the static information. I tried publishing the site and found that the snipet is all that is in the left column. The only place that I can see the page the way that I believe it should be is when I choose customize on the Appearance – Theme page. It does show the whole page then. I would appreciate help if anybody knows how to fix this.
