• New Feature:

You can set any “page” to be the front page of your site, and put the latest posts somewhere else, making it much easier to use WordPress as a content management system.

For the life of me I cannot figure out where this is. I search and could not find any info.

    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Log in and head to Options -> Reading. Top section of the page.

So on this same point, If I set the home page to be a specific page (accessible by https://www.mydomain.com/), how would I create a link to the latest posts?

In this context, when you say page, think Pages to help reduce confusion. You can select one of your WordPress blog’s Pages to be the home page.

Those Pages tend to have the theme’s navigation elements as part of them. Or perhaps you would create a new Page with some specific links into blog content (say, if you were using WP as a CMS). The choice and flexibility are yours. ??

rarareddog, let me just add that if you follow Handy’s original directions of Options > Reading, you will find a setting there for choosing a ‘Posts page’ (that is, a Page to display your latest posts on).

i am an idiot. I looked everywhere in the codex for that, but didnt look one line further down in the options menu. That is fantatsic. I new that would be simple, but not that simple.

That was my first post in these forums, but I have become a pretty handy WP user because of all the advice that you guys donate.

Thank you all for the time and effort that you put into developing and helping us all.
