Hi @catherinemr – just to clarify the way you have things set up – do you have a static page set as the Home page?

If so – are you able to go to Appearance > Editor and then go to Templates > Page and see if the content you’re seeing is shown in that template?

hi thanks for the response . Yes I have a static page. In WordPress I see the page and template headers etc. but when I make the page a home page, it uses a page that no longer exists which does not reflect any header or template I have. In fact I have tried with other pages and made them the home page . As soon as it is made the home page it changes to the same old page . Neither the content of the headed/template of the homepage are correct and revert to one old page that no longer exists. When a page is no longer the home page, it displays correctly . If I look at the page on WordPress, I see the correct page. Hope that is clear ?? all this happened after the 6.6 WordPress release. I have since installed 6.6.1 but that did not help

    Hi

further update if someone has any idea. I have tested 2 other schemes, twenty-three and astra, and I have the same issue that while I can edit the page I use as home page in the editor, but when you browse the site, it shows a page that no longer exists with odds headers as well

this is what a page looks like when I make it the home page. In this example, it is the would be home page

when I set the bag as my home page, it looks like that

after I reinstalled twenty twenty four, the navigation has improved but the page is still some old version. I get that page no matter what page I set as the home page. I wonder whether I should delete that particular version from the database but I don’t want to mess things up more than already are. In the editor, I se the correct version of the page.

Hi @catherinemr – thanks for all that additional detail.

If you go to Appearance > Edit > Templates – do you see a template titled ‘Front Page’? If that exists – it is the template that will always show for the front page of the site (which sounds like what you’re seeing).

    hi Jordan

Yes, after I reinstalled twenty twenty four I re-edited the front page template to have the correct header and footer. When I edit the page, it looks correct in the editor and also use the front page template. But when I go to the site, it display a page that does not exists. Or rather it uses a page that was deleted when the new page was created. The old page was created using elementor which caused problems (the lady who has setup the site tried to update elementor which caused a pro me) so I uninstalled elementor and created a new site and pages using twenty twenty four. Which o like ?? . So I can see that that version of the old page is still in the database but it is not in the editor list. I made the ‘about’ page the home page but the result is the same. I can edit it but it is not being used and the old page is displayed as the hole page. I am out of ideas ?? maybe I should delete that version of the page of the database? Would that cause harm ?

    Hi @catherinemr!

Yes, you can delete the old page from the database, but create a database backup before making changes. This way, if something goes wrong, you can restore your site to its previous state. After making changes, visit your site to check if everything is working as expected and that the new home page is displaying correctly.
