Front page spontaneously reverted to sample page
-
Last Friday I set up the Zerif Lite theme on my website and spent a considerable amount of time getting the front page exactly to my liking. Many, many revisions later, I hit “save” one last time, finally satisfied with the results. That was a great ending to my Friday.
Monday morning I go to my site to work on some of the inner content pages, since the front page was all done and all. And, what do I find?
THE FRONT PAGE I SET UP GONE, REPLACED BY THE ZERIF SAMPLE FRONT PAGE!!!!!
I updated to the latest version of the theme already, prior to this (which fixed the persistent Lorem Ipsum issue I was having in the About section, so yay for that). The front page was exactly how I set it up after that update, so that wasn’t it.
Reverting to any of the earlier saved versions didn’t help, and I had many to choose from, after all the tweaking I did on Friday – and yes, I did save every version.
I did not touch my site between Friday evening and Monday morning. I did not update anything. Not a single thing. At all. It just reverted to the lovely “oh here’s a blank sample page, hi world, I clearly don’t know what I’m doing” page. By itself. On its own. With no warning and no heads up. Because that’s what we all want from our website, amirite?
I am beyond upset right now. Not only is all my work setting up the page GONE, but now I can’t trust Zerif to not pull this nonsense again. What was that? Why? How? WHY??
Please advise.
