• Hi!

We suddenly have issues with our front page showing a 404 (probably after Polylang 3.4 update, but I don’t know for sure).

It’s a multisite installation with a static page as front page.

Our URL modifications settings in Polylang is:

? The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks
? Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks
? The front page URL contains the language code instead of the page name or page id

We have tried different pages as home page and they all give a 404 when set as static front page. Visiting the pages when they are not set as front page works.

Everything works if we check “Hide URL language information for default language”, but we need our urls containing language.

We have tried changing and reverting permalink settings and flushing permalink cache with no help.

    What could be wrong?

  • I’m getting this as well. If I come across anything I’ll let you know, and visa-versa would be appreciated.

I’m also having this problem since last week. No answers yet from the support so if I find how to fix it, I will let you know.

I’m having the same problem since 3.4.2.

In my case we have a WordPress multisite in blogs.xxx.xx with a site which has different domains (one for every language):

    sitename.es (for spanish)

    sitename.cat (for catalan)

    sitename.eu (for english)

in the polylang options we had setup every domain for language.

So website was “blogs.xxx.xx/sitename” but if you access the home page for sitename.es, you now get sitename.es/sitename where you get a “not found”.

If I can help to fix the problem with more info, please let me know.

    Thank you

I downgraded to 3.4.1 and it works fine.

Still having problems with a site I recently created (after 3.4.2 upgrade). I will carry on searching and I will let know.

UPDATE: It looks it’s a problem in combination with the Really Simple SSL plugin when “Activate SSL” is activated. I will do some more research tomorrow and I will let you know.

We have Really Simple SSL deactivated and it’s still happening. Same with downgrading.

Downgrading to 3.3.3 did the trick for us. But that’s just a temporary solution. 3.4 did not seem to work.

I also went back to 3.3.3 and it did the trick. Any other version in 3.4 didn’t work for me. I’m waiting for another update in 3.5 before trying to update again.

Thanks simonwimell and lfelgerolles. I tried 3.3.3 myself and no bingo on one of the multisites.

Just in case anyone missed it, an update to the plugin has been released which fixes the issue.

I still have the 3.4.3 version who doesn’t work so for now, I will stay on 3.3.3. Thanks for the update though!!

    Hello,

To be able to solve this issue, we need to reproduce it. To help us doing that, please provide the steps to reproduce starting from a fresh WordPress install with only a default theme and Polylang activated.

Same problem on my WordPress multisite, i found a workaround.

When you validate changes to a page on a site, the problem is triggered.

just go to PolyLang settings (Languages -> Settings -> URL modifications (click on Settings) -> just click on the “Save Changes” button”)

On the other hand, if you revalidate a page’s modifications, the problem reappears and you have to repeat the procedure described above.
