Front page, three slider areas–very limited use?

Hi,

The front page of the Boot Store theme has 3 areas right below the carousal labeled Slider 1, 2 and 3. Originally I had wanted to use these areas for embedding a You Tube video, to display recent blog posts and to display recent Tweeter posts. However, I can’t find a way to do this. They seem to have very limited use.

Does anyone know of a way to embed a You Tube video in these areas or, the other functions I mentioned.

I noticed that other Themes have similar areas called ‘sliders’–does this term denote some special usage or function?
