I have this working on my localhost, but today I moved to a Web server (bluehost) and it is not working there. Both are set up exactly the same: In the Read Settings I have “Front page displays” set to “A static page” and “Front page” set to “About”. My domain is https://www.PhotoHelpDesk.net and when I enter that in my browser, I get my latest (currently my only) post, not the “About” static page. But on my local host, I get what I expect, the “About” page. What could be wrong? Oh yes: I did click Save Changes on the Read Settings page.

  • Sounds like you have not set the template for the About page, or maybe it is missing.

The template in both the bluehost page and the localhost page is set to Default Template. I’m not sure what “it” is when you say “or maybe it is missing.” Do you mean the About page itself? I’m showing the Pages widget at the top of the sidebar and About is in the list and when you click on it, the About page is displayed. What else could the problem be?

I just went to look, and your About page is the front page that I’m seeing.

I created an identical copy of the About page, called it About (so now there were two About pages), and set that new one in the Reading Settings. Then I put the original About page in the trash and now it’s working.

    I am seeing About also.

To tigtog: You must have looked after I “fixed” the problem with that screwy switchero.

To vtxyzzy: Yeah, I fixed it LOL.

    Glad you figured it out.

Well, actually, I’m not sure I “figured out” anything! Just a lot of black magic going on.

Anyway, it appears to be working.
