Frontpage/homepage as page not post

  • Hello,
    Can the frontpage/homepage of the Chosen theme be a static page rather than a post. Want the page to look like the demo with the large featured image & some text underneath minus the post title and date. Want the other posts further down the page to not be there as well, can this be done.
