    Hi,
Are there any plans to offer full site editing support for the Event Calendar this year?
I see that event the upcoming 6.0 (in beta stage) it’s not compatible.

  • Hey @mkdev

Yes, there are plans to offer Full Site Editor support for the Events Calendar.

In fact, we have already started chipping away at it.
I won’t bore you with the gory details, but suffice to say that supporting FSE does require significant effort (hence the iterative approach).

As for the upcoming 6.0, it’s a completely different beast altogether. The focus of that release is about sunsetting our original designs AND setting the stage for the new recurring back-end engine of our Events Calendar Pro premium add-on.

Long story short, we don’t have a precise delivery date just yet, but you should see improved compatibility as the year progresses.

    Best,
    Geoff

    Hi @mkdev,

Since we haven’t heard from you in a while on this topic we will assume that the problem was fixed or is no longer applicable and with that I will mark this as resolved.

If that is not the case, please let me know and I will gladly remove the “Resolved” tag and try to help you further. Or you can create a new topic with the problem if you prefer.

    Best Regards,
    Abz

Hi, I’m reviving this topic to not create a separate one.

I’m just looking for a solution to have the single event page be decupled from the php template. (to allow the fse template for that specific post type to takes over)

With 5.14.2.1 was introduced “Feature – First iteration of changes for Full Site Editor compatibility.”

I’m not sure exactly what were the iterations, but after that update it worked. (the single post event was appearing as wanted)

Now after the last updated, it seems that it’s all back to how it was before. (the php template takes priority)

So my question is, is there a hook or something that we can apply to allow the fse template to take priority over the php one? (getting the actual content on the page after is not an issue)

    Thank you!

Hello @mkdev, thanks for the updates here. We appreciate you providing more context and information here. However, we do not have a workaround for this at the moment. We’re moving forward to pushing 6.0 and plan to support FSE for The Events Calendar. We do not have an exact date of when this will be delivered.

Let me know if this helps. Have a great weekend ahead.

Hi @mkdev, reaching back to you here to update you about the Single Event Template issue. I investigated further and we already created an internal bug ticket for this, and I have added your case to it. Thanks for all the details, I will definitely pass it along to our devs.

I am unable to provide an exact date or time estimate for when this bug will be fixed, but you’ll be notified when there are any updates.

Appreciate your patience, and we’re looking forward to helping you solve this. If you do have other concerns or issues you need help with, please create another ticket, as it helps us track different issues.

Again, thank you for your patience. Have a great day.

    Cheers,
    Abz

Thanks for looking into it! The solution I found for this is just to use then standard structure to overwrite the single event template and inside it render the get_the_block_template_html() function.
