FTP access via WordPress site

  • Hi,

    I am running a WordPress installation and I’d like my clients have access to a specified folder (one different folder for each client) with their unique username and password, as if it was an FTP access but via WordPress. Once they access, they would find that folder with the list of files that they can download.

    I am getting mad looking for a plugin that do so, but I can’t find any. Is there a workaround to do this?

  • WordPress doesn’t use folders to store files – except for the uploads folder where attachments may be stored in month/year folders.

    And in the case I create these folders within my files, is there any way that my clients can connect to those folders using the WP installation, with a plugin or something similar? What I try to do is to create an access for my clients to their specific folder.

    No. As I’ve said, WordPress doesn’t use folders.

    Well I think the phrase ‘wordpress doesn’t use folders’ is wrong.

    I’ve also been finding it hard to do this exactly, I have found plugin’s that enable users registered with your wordpress site to have access to an FTP access tool (the plugin appears under the tools section) which lets them download and upload files. (ACCESS TO FOLDERS!!) I’m using this with another plugin called User Access Rights, where I have created new user types (like subscriber/editor) I have made one called clients, they have absolutely no rights, apart from the access this FTP tool, they login through WordPress, get to the dashboard and can access the FTP plugin only to upload and download.

    However my problem is that I can use the actual FTP Usernames & Passwords to set restriction to specific folders, my clients can go all the back to the root, which is a no no. Also id much prefer to have the FTP files appear on the Front end of the website, and not have to login to the Admin/Dashboard to access these files. So that the header and Footer are there for branding, I don’t want my clients to know what CMS I am using.

    I finally decided to use extplorer.sourceforge.net to do this, and then linked this from my WP installation

    HI,

    I’m having a similar problem.
    I built a site for a friend and I’m hosting it as well.

    I want him to be able to access a password protected folder where he can store files, kinda like cloud storage.

    I ended up creating a private password protected page and created a Nija Pro form (which allows you to upload files)and appended it to the page.

    He is now able to type in the url with /storage on the end, then enter a password which reveals the index list within an iframe.

    This is ok but i want him to be able to create folders and delete or move files around within that main folder.

    Any ideas?
