• Hello all,
I have a client who has a standalone WordPress site they use for intranet and I am not having any luck with updating to the latest version.

It asks for a FTP account, which no one seems to have and none of the admin accounts seem to work.

I did find information about adding the “FS_Method, direct” option on the wp-config.php file to manually update it but that file is locked under the “apache” account and cannot be modified.

Is there a way to see what FTP account is being used? or reset the password for it?

Or is there a way to take ownership of the php file under “apache” so that my user account can modify it?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

You may need to reach out to the hosting provider for that. I know some hosting platforms have different ways of setting that up. Some use git when it comes to file management like that and so the files are read only so you can’t write to any folders.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah this is all hosted internally so we don’t really have anyone overseeing it.

It runs on cent OS but nothing I have tried seems to work. can’t take ownership of anything as everything is read only and won’t let you modify any of the php files to make the changes, lol.
