FTP connection shows error only at live site

Difficult to say … the most probable issue is a firewall issue on your “live site”.

That was a firewall issue. There is another issue i am facing. I setup the parametres to take automatic FTP backup every 7 day. But it didnot took backup. the process statrted but nothing happened after that. it still shows “Backup in progress.”

What is the number of person that visit you site and what is the size of your website ?

Thanks for the instant reply. Size of website is 1.70 GB and m not sure about no. of visitors. But when i click on froce backup than it takes a backup at FTP but not automatically.

If the size of the backup is about 1.7 GB, you should have at least 1 thousand visitors a day to complete the process in one day.

Actually, each visitor trigger one step of the backup process.

For instance, my backup is 150 Mo and it take 6 hours to complete

No matter if i divided backup files in 500MB. How can i schedule force backup in a interval of 7 days?

Time of the backups: 0
Keep the backup files for (in days): 32
The maximum file size (in MB): 500
Save the backup files on a FTP? : yes
What is the maximum size of allocated memory (in MB): 5
What is the maximum time for the php scripts execution (in seconds): 15

If you cannot increase these values (i.e. if there is errors while increasing these value) you cannot increase the speed of your backup …

But be careful …. 500 Mo is quite huge for transfering a file through FTP … I would be surprised if it works ??

Its working only for force backup. What should i do for automatic backup?

The appropriate size is about 5-10 MB… it depends on the limitation of your server and the link transmission speed between the two servers … For instance try to upoload 500 MB … it take hours … Mots of the time the limitation of the web server is that no script may exceed 40s… do the computation ??

If i make it 5-10 MB than its immpossible to take scheduled backup beacuase complete file size is 2 around 2GB ??
