FTP credentials on plugin download

  • Hi. I have a VPS that has several websites on it. Some of my wordpress sites allow me to download and activate through the wordpress dashboard.

    Others prompt me for FTP host, user name, and password when trying to download a plugin. I do not have ftp configured on my VPS; only SFTP.

    What setting do I need do make on WordPress such that my site behaves like I described in the first paragraph above?

    As a workaround, I login via filezilla and place files in the proper plugin directory. This is time consuming ??
