FTP of plugin

So I was going to update The Events Calendar but ran into issues. Until that is fixed I wanted to reinstall the previous version. I used Filezilla to transfer the 1.6.5 version I downloaded from their support page and transferred it to the wp-plugin section in my cpanel. It is now showing up as drop-in category, not installed, as a php file on my site. there is no link to access it and I have no idea what I should have done instead
