    Hi guys.

Do you know if it is possible to upload files into wordpress from FTP?

I’ve tried uploading them to the same folder as all other files I uploaded through the wordpress-app, but they don’t seem to show up.

    Any thoughts?

  • uhmm yep ftp works fine..you just need to specify where exactly you want them to be. If you want them in the root directory just make a folder called “images” so its easy to link to it when posting..then you don’t have to post the whole address..

    example: you can just use

    /images/image1.jpg

I haven’t really tried uploading using wordpress itself.. but I think all uploads made using it will always go here

    /wp-content/uploads

the upload folder is in the same directory as your plugins and themes

if you want to change the folder..go to options >> miscellaneous

I suppose what I really want is to be able to upload with ftp but have the images show up in the wordpress upload manager… but they don’t!

Nope, they won’t. If you use the built-in uploader then the images get the appropriate database records associated with them.

If you upload via FTP, they don’t.

I vaguely recall seeing some bulk image upload plugins that might do what you want though. Sorry, don’t have a link handy but perhaps a web search would turn something up.

thanks handy, I guess I’ll do it the old-fashioned way

I use plugin to visualize the archives that I raise by FTP, works well with WP 2.3
It is the WordPress Organizer https://imthi.com/organizer works fine
