    PROBLEM

Tonight I updated from WP 5.0.0 to 5.0.1 and Fukasawa from 1.18 to 1.20, and after the update the Masonry layout in the frontend was all messed up.

Instead of several posts all nicely arranged there was only one post and the Link to “Previous posts” appeared in the top right corner.

    REASON

Then I found the following in Fukasawa 1.20’s readme.txt:

    Version 1.19 (2018-12-15)
    – Implemented Images Loaded, to prevent the Masonry layout from getting messed up

Ironically this change may seem to have achieved quite the contrary as the Masonry layout was fine BEFORE the update with Fukasawa 1.18.

    SOLUTION

So I downloaded Fukasawa 1.18 and reinstalled it on the server, and now everything looks fine again.

Are there any known incompatibilities between WP 5.0.1 and Fukasawa 1.20?

    Hi @fredoclavier,

If you’re using a child theme, make sure that you update index.php, archive.php and search.php as described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fukasawa-1-20-and-wp-5-0-1/#post-10995697

    Hi,
I’m sure. I haven’t index.php and search.php in my child theme. And I’ve just deleted archive.php. The display of categories is better but all my site is still in one column. Is there anything else I could try ?

    Hi @fredoclavier,

Your child theme has a full copy of the parent theme stylesheet and doesn’t include the parent theme stylesheet at all, so it doesn’t have the style updates in the most recent update (which includes the .grid-sizer styling).

You can either update your child theme with the styles added in version 1.20 of Fukasawa, or enqueue the parent theme stylesheet and add a separate stylesheet for your child theme. I’d recommend the latter, since it will help you avoid running into issues with missing Fukasawa styles in the future.

I’ll try as soon as I can. Thank you very much !

Hi i had the same problem too, and i still needed to add a child theme. At first i added a child theme with the plugin ‘child theme configurator’ then activated the child theme. Everything worked fine untill i updated to WordPress 5.02 it showed only one stacked post. As Anders suggested i copied the index.php file from the Fukasawa theme and pasted (overwritten) the index.php file in the Fukasawa-child. Now everything works fine!

To chime in – Just had this issue myself and after trying everything here I found that Jetpack was causing an issue for me. A quick ‘deactivate’ and ‘delete’ and reinstall and all is well. Not sure if there’s a way around that, or if that will help someone else figure out what’s wrong. Great theme! Love it.
