    Hello,

How is it possible to always fit the post image on pages to the page width without cropping to the side. Currently all post images are cropped to the size of 2560×1000 px.
I can’t find an option for this like it is possible for the home page (header). Here I can set the image as “Full Cover Image” with the option “Site Title Overlay”.
This will display the image in full width on the screen.
    Have I overlooked something here?
Do I have to do something different to get the effect on pages as well?

    Thanks
    Mischa

    Hello Mischa,

Can you please provide a link to a page on your site where the post image is cropped? We need to see how you are displaying these images as there are quite a few options that could affect this.

    Hello Oliver,

the problem is only noticeable when you can only view an image properly if it is not cropped.
For example, I now have an image (2000×625 px) on the page :
    https://www.o-r.de/angebot-anfordern/
inserted. As you can see the image is cropped.
Not nice. Using the header “Full Cover Image” function I could always fit the images to page width. But this does not work on the pages.

Looking at the page you link to, the image …

    Hi Oliver,

no, the original ist not cropped. It seems the plugin needs a special height, otherwise the image is cropped to keep the original ratio?

And it makes no difference what the size of the image is.

    Hello,

You mention that the plug-in requires a special height but that’s not something that we’ve seen before.

We need to see the issue happening. Please provide a link to a page where your image is being cropped by the plug-in rather than a page that has an already cropped image.

Please also confirm that the issue persists when our plug-in is deactivated.

    Many thanks,

    Oliver

    Hello Oliver,

it would be enough for me if I could always have images displayed scaled to page width. Is there a setting here. As already written, there is this setting for the header. Here it is the setting “Full Cover Image” with the setting “Site Title Overlay”.
I would like to achieve this behaviour for all images.
    Is that possible?

    Hello Mischa,

I’m really sorry but this is how images are shown anyway so we need to be able to replicate what you are describing before we can help.

We need to see the issue happening. Please provide a link to a page where your image is being cropped by the plug-in rather than a page that has an already cropped image.

Please also confirm that the issue persists when our plug-in is deactivated.

As you can see on the theme demo (if you click on the “About” page), the featured image is not cropped. So please explain what you are doing exactly so we can recreate your cropped image scenario.

    Thank you,

    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,

I have solved the problem. Editing under WordPress superficially shows the desired format, but in the background WordPress apparently accesses the raw data. Thus, an image cropped in height is displayed with more height details than are actually shown in the cropped image.

It is best to adjust images to the necessary size in advance in an external programm. An import into WordPress, even of images with very high resolution, is always scaled to a width of 2536 px. Such an image is then cropped. If I import the same image, externally scaled to 2000 px, the image is not cropped!

Images may only have a maximum width of 2000px, then the image is not cropped. If the width of the image is larger, it depends on the aspect ratio of the inserted image whether it is cropped or not.

Regardless of this, I have solved the problem for myself, also thanks to your tips.

    Thank you Mischa

    Hello Mischa,

OK. I think I understand what you are saying now.

So it may be that Twenty Seventeen theme uses the Twenty Seventeen featured image size for these images. I was not aware that these images are cropped to 2000px wide x 1200px high if the image being uploaded is larger than that but perhaps you have discovered that they are.

I thought you were talking about the theme CSS cropping the image, not WordPress when you upload the image.

    Glad you found a resolution.

    Oliver
