Okay, thanks for looking. I was using a twenty eleven based child theme called NomNom. The first theme to support responsive menus is twenty twelve – found this somewhere within the forums.
So, decided to switch to twenty eleven and try to recreate as much as possible from the previous theme. This is a parks and recreation site, and they were concerned that people using mobile devices could find things easily because of the menu issue.
I used 2 great tips for customizing twenty twelve. Here’s one for replacing the site title with an image.
The other involved creating a second sidebar on the left.
I used this tutorial written by my previous theme’s author.
I am still doing some tweaks on the site; but it is doing what I needed.
