Full post text being shown despite EXCERPT being used

I’ve noticed that all the social feeds that are updated by SNAP are being updated with the full post text rather than the excerpt. We are using the %excerpt% tag in all our social connectors.
We’re also using the MORE tag in WordPress to show the excerpt in blog listings.
Does the excerpt tag use the wordpress MORE tag or does it use something else?
