When trying to complete a restoration from Amazon S3, after I click backup the notification that it is preparing the backup comes up… then the screen will freeze till Google Chrome tells me it is non responsive. If I wait long enough it will become responsive and all the processes error out.

Retrieving (if necessary) and preparing backup files…

We are wanting to purchase the developers premium version, but if this is going to be an on going issue we may need to look elsewhere for a more reliable backup solution.

I opened the logs and there are no backup logs for the failed restore. Please help me so we can purchase the premium plugin.

To perform any restoration using UpdraftPlus, you will need to obtain a copy of this file and place it inside UpdraftPlus’s working folder (updraft)

    Hi,

This indicates that the site that you want to restore to does not have the correct credentials to access S3. Could you double check that the credentials are correct?

Alternatively, you can download the backup files directly from the S3 website – https://console.aws.amazon.com/console/home -, and then upload them to UpdraftPlus.

Yes, the credentials are correct, the test runs successfully, and the sites are being backed up just fine. Some times it does do the restore just fine… Often not.

Unfortunately downloading them directly from S3 would not work, we are using this for our customers that do not have access.

Maybe updraft plus isn’t going to work for what we need, we just want to make sure it will before we pay for any upgrade.

    Hi,

It may be that the download of the files is being blocked by a firewall. Could you ask the server host/admin to check their firewall logs?

You can also download your backups from S3 manually – i.e. visit https://console.aws.amazon.com/s3 – and FTP them up into wp-content/updraft on your site. Then press the ‘rescan local storage’ link in the ‘Existing Backups’ tab.
