When I tried to modify the basic links appearance, I encountered a problem. There are three buttons: no underline, underline, strikethrough. The underline is on by default, and there is no change when you press the “no underline” button. So I have to conclude that the “no underline” button does not work, and by extension that the “underline” button does not work. However, the “strikethrough” does seem to work.

At one point I tried to add the extra css in the other section “text-deoration:none;” and that was not effective either.

This observation has been made before in another thread to which I replied, but was advised to make a new topic. Perhaps this is a problem with the implementation of the two buttons relating to underlines, that they are not being activated by the editor in some way. Or is the underline being done with some other css such as rules which was implemented in a previous WPTheme (sorry, I cannot remember which one) and that underline creation is not being affected by the pressing of the buttons?

I have another observation. The FSE has a “Style” section. I would suggest that instead of merely pesenting colour schemes, it might have a sub-categories, “color pallettes” and “elements” (headings, links, images). The “elements” would call up that frame which is now under patterns which gives all those elements. I don’t think that the elements actually belong under patterns in the way it is presented at the moment. Something for further thought.

I look forward to any thoughts about my observations.

  • Hi @stilman-davis,

If I understand you correctly, I think where you refer to ‘elements’ – you mean ‘blocks’ (i.e. headings, links, images, etc.). If this is indeed the case, then when you are in the editor, looking at the Styles, you should also see a link there for Blocks (below typography, colors & layout), where you can indeed find all the many Blocks and their Style settings for adjustment.

This may also aid you in solving the first part of your question re: link decoration. I have just tried adding an underline for the ‘custom link’ block and it works perfectly – there are many other link blocks in there, I am sure they will all work similarly.

    Hope this helps you,

    Carl
