  • You can do this with the Cover Block, see: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/cover-block/

Btw. the mentioned domain is for sale.

Hello Threadi and thankyou for taking the time to reply.

I have already read though the documentation and I still cannot find any way to increase the width of the cover block. The Resize Tooltip does not increase the width, and the Change Alignment dropdown does not include the Wide Width Max 1200px Wide option. I tried changing the Block to a Column and still could not increase the width. It’s weird as I am using straight of the shelf Twenty Twenty Four theme with no customization and no plug ins. Any idea what might be happening?

Sorry I own the domain name but realise I haven’t actually published anything yet

I can do this without any problems as follows:

    1. I select the cover block. In the list view of the blocks, make sure that it does not end up inside another block.
    2. then I should select an image or a color. I simply select red.
    3. then I see how the cover block fills the screen from left to right.

I don’t change any settings. That’s exactly how it works. I have just recreated this in https://playground.wordpress.net.

and the Change Alignment dropdown does not include the Wide Width Max 1200px Wide option.

The Twenty Twenty-Four theme should have the “Wide width” set to 1200px by default… unless something on your site overrides this.

But in your case, you need to use the “Full Width” option. (It seems this is the default for @threadi, but it wasn’t for me: I had to specifically select “Full Width” for the Cover block to go full width.)

Below is a screenshot taken from a fresh 6.5.3 site, TT4 theme, with no plugin. And here’s a live test page: https://tenderbell.s3-tastewp.com/sample-page/

    Hello Threadi and George,

Thankyou both for taking the time to help me out.

The problem was that the cover image was inside another block. As soon as I deleted the entire block and inserted a cover block only it appeared as full width.

I really appreciate your help gents, really kind of you.

    Cheers, Jim

Nice if we could help. You are welcome to set the topic to solved.
