full width image shifting on big screens after adding a link to the image

Hello everyone, I have set up my site to be completely full width and to be responsive. so no matter the viewers screen it grows and srinks. Everything looked fine until I viewed my website on a 27″ imac screen and suddenly the images were not growing with the web browser after a certain point.

If I keep stretching my web browser on my home laptop the same thing happens.

I discovered this only happens when one of the images has a link added to it, but I want these images to be linked.

would really appreciate it if someone could help with this as I’m having to use plain background colors thst match the images to cover this shift in image up.
