@kniebremser – We include a German translation, that being the case it will be found and used first. If you would like to use you own translation you will need to either replace (or remove) the existing one from under:
    ../wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/i18n/lang

    Thanks!

    Hi!

The German translation is not the best for me.
After your method I need to replace after each update the language files.
Then I close times out of it: language files can not from the directory … / wp-content / languages ??/ plugins are loaded, as described on the site: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/languages/

@kniebremser – If you feel the current translations for the German language are not correct or could be improved, please feel free to submit a more complete version … or even collaborate with the author of the current translation files.

    Hi!

In other plugins it is the other way around. Is there a costum this translation is loaded, otherwise the default translation loaded. This is user friendly.

@kniebremser – We specifically load the bundled translations from the plugin folder where they are stored … are you saying if you delete the German translation files from ../wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/i18n/lang/

… the plugin will not use your version saved under /wp-content/languages/plugins/?

    Hi!
User adjustments should be made ??in secure folders.
The folder “wp-admin”, “wp-include”, “theme folder” and “plugin folder” are developers area and are not user area.
After each update, the changes are gone. Therefore, for example, are child-themes, so a user there makes its adjustments. For costum plugin translations there is also a safe place. This would be … / wp-content / languages ??/ photocrati. With this solution you can safely update the plugin and the costum translation remains.
