• I’m stumped, and any help would be appreciated. There are other posts similar to mine that are closed, but they close with a proud “I fixed it!” without any explanation as to what was done to fix the problem. So, here I am.

This is the error message I get whenever I click on a blog title to bring up the post in its own page:
Warning: require(/home1/stargaze/public_html/blog/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home1/stargaze/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php on line 265

The files are there. Line 265 is commented out, but 266 says: require( ABSPATH . WPINC . ‘/locale.php’. Locale.php is also there.

    Help? Please? Thank you!

  • Your upgrade may not have completed successfully. Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.
