Funny Characters Appearing In Posts

  • I have strange characters appearing in some old posts. I have searched in the wordpress site but cant find a relevant answer. These are some of the characters :

    a€|a€|.
    a€?

    They seem to appear where punctuation should be.

    From reading around, I think this is some sort of encoding problem. It all started when I changed hosts recently (up untill then all these posts displayed fine). I paid someone to migrate my sites for me. I think they dumped the databases and imported them with the new hosts.

    I really need to find an answer. I could pay someone to sort it out if its difficult. Im alaso having the same problem with my forum which is run on smf. Here is a link to a post on my forum where the problem is evident :
