[EDIT: sorry, mistakenly posted in wrong forum!]

I understand that WP 2.0- pinged the services the moment a new post is published, regardless of its timestamp (so, even if the post was scheduled to appear in 1 week, the services were still pinged immediately upon hitting the Publish button).

    1. Has anything changed with this regard in WP 2.1?

    2. If not, is there any reliable plugin for managing pinging (beyond Skippy’s WP-Cron, which admittedly is not very reliable)?

    3. Are the services pinged also when the post is saved only as a Draft (I assume, not)?

    Thanks! ??
    Miroslav

I *think* that tells us that for 2.1 future pinging is supported now.

Thanks, HandySolo. I wish I could make sense out of it, but I can’t!

The new cron system should ensure that posts don’t cause pings to get sent until they actually appear on the page. I think. I have not examined that piece in great detail, but given what I have seen, it makes sense.

Thanks, Otto. That would be another vote in favor. Is there anybody who knows for sure?

Also, when you say “the new cron system”, can I take it to mean that it is a part of the core WP 2.1 code?

Yes, it is part of the core code.
