• Hey guys,

I just wanted to share that depending on the structure of your theme an activated Flattr-plugin makes the POdPress player disappear from a post-page (but is still there on the home page). The only solution is to deactivate Flattr as I found no configuration for it that does not conflict with PodPress.

    Regards from Germany!

  • Hi Schepp,

please, tell me which flattr plugin and theme you are using.

    Regards,

Happens with Flattr 0.9.24 and PodPress 8.8.10.8 or 8.8.10.9 beta 1. But it is again theme-dependant. No problems when switching over to Twenty Ten. Interestingly: The BurBerry Plugin has a button for fixing Theme-originated player diesplay bugs and it succeeded in bringing its BurBerry player back. Not the PodPress’ one. And I like PodPress better. Maybe it would be cool to check what they do to fix?

Well, I would like to find out what the problem might be and fix it. Since working on podPress is not my day job, it would save me a lot of time if you could tell me the name of a theme which has this issue.
Maybe I will look into the blubrry Powerpress plugin too. But if I could install a theme which has already this problem then would not have to create such theme(or problem in a theme) in order to test whether the bug fix works or not.
It would be very helpful if you could tell me also the name of the theme.

No problem. The site in question is that one:
    https://workingdraft.de

The theme is custom built and worked well with both Flattr and PodPress for more than half a year. Then, maybe like 4 weeks ago, it suddenly broke. Maybe because of an WP or plugin update, but this is a guess. However, you find a ZIP of the theme folder here.

    Again our current metrics:

    • WordPress 3.1.3
    • Flattr 0.9.24
    • 8.8.10.9 beta 1

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you and regards

    Super! Thank you very much!

I have downloaded the working-draft.zip and will find out what I can change in podPress.

for more than half a year. Then, maybe like 4 weeks ago, it suddenly broke.

Hmm, it may have something to do with the HTML5 support in podPress. Since 8.8.10 podPress displays in some browsers (Safari, Chrome/Chromium and IE9) HTML5 audio elements instead of one of the Flash MP3 players. Maybe switching this feature off is work-a-round. But I will investigate the issue and report back.

    Thanks again.

I fear not, as it still appears on the home page, just not in the single posts. And I looked into the source code without finding any traces of the player. But I wish you a successful hunt!

Should you use Twitter and have any more questions, then you can reach me there, too:@derSchepp.

    Viel Erfolg!

    Schepp,

I may have found a solution for this issue, but I will take a further look at the flattr plugin.

The flattr plugin has a setting regarding excerpts (Flattr > Advanced Settings > Excerpt Handling). If you change the setting to “WordPress” (instead of “Flattr Plugin”) then the player and the other podPress elements will probably appear again in the single post view of your theme.
Maybe this is an option for you.
