  • Hey, siwan00!

The Google+ share count is retrieved using a slightly different method to the other social counts. It requires a remote request to a file called sharrre.php. Some web hosts don’t allow this, which could be responsible for the issue you’re seeing.

To debug the problem, it’s worth reviewing your server error logs. (Your host may be able to help with this if you’ve not accessed your logs before.)

If those logs include messages such as ‘CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when an open_basedir is set in … /sharrre/sharrre.php’ or other errors relating to sharrre.php, you may have to contact your host to get them to lift any restrictions that prevent the sharrre.php file from being remotely requested by the plugin’s JavaScript code.

Sorry that I couldn’t offer a simple fix for you, but I hope this pointer proves useful in investigating the issue further.
