I followed this guide step by step:

    https://wpforms.com/how-to-securely-send-wordpress-emails-using-gmail-smtp/#create-web-application

And it all worked. In the plugin, as the last step, I pressed the button labelled “Allow plugin to send emails using your Google account.” and then I logged into my Google account and granted access.

But I am still unable to select a ‘From’ email address in the plugin settings. It is greyed out and says “Please first authorize the Gmail mailer below”.

So I go through the same OAuth process again, and again, still the ‘From’ email address cannot be changed.

How can I resolve this to make it work?

    Hi there @oliverjdb,

It sounds like something may be interfering with the connection to Google. When you authorize the connection and are returned to the site, on the WP Mail SMTP settings page, does it show the “Allow plugin to send emails using your Google Account” button? Or does it show a red “Remove Connection” button?

If it shows the Allow button, the connection may have been interrupted and wasn’t successfully created. If that’s the case, there may be another plugin that is causing this to happen. You can try disabling your other plugins and then making the connection.

If you’re getting the “Remove Connection” button, check out this page on our site. It discusses using a Gmail Alias with your connection: https://wpmailsmtp.com/gmail-send-from-alias-wp-mail-smtp/

I hope that helps! Have a great day! ??
