Gallery > Alt & Title Text / Description Text Truncated

Hello Cais

As sc88pro said, I would not want to update and have all the text in the Alt & Title Text / Description Text box since we have more than 200 images.

The contents of the Alt & Title Text / Description Text box are text with HTML tags and CSS classes.

If there is a way to backup and restore all the text box contents, I may consider testing it but I will not update to 2.1.23 for awhile until the older 2.1.20 no longer works.
I will not be updating the plugin until I can confirm that the problem has been resolved.

I wish I can help but it took some time to restore all the truncated text that were lost.

I hope you can find the problem on the 2.1.23 that is causing this as the 2.1.20 is ok.

@phillliplee – We’re not seeing this issue on any of our test sites … if we cannot reproduce the issue(s) that are causing this it will be very difficult to sort out how to correct it for your site.

I appreciate your help. However, please give me an option that will not truncate the web site information.

I just can’t take the chance of updating the plugin to 2.1.23 and having the info disappear. That is not my current option at the moment.

Hi @photocrati, I’ve come across the same problem as these two people. I’m about to start another thread for you, but what it appears to be doing is calling a script which removes the content of the a tags. You can see the page render the titles inside the h4 > a for a brief moment, but within a hundred ms or so they are removed from the dom.

I have been freaking for the past couple of days because THIS IS EXACTLY what has happened to my NextGEN gallery. And I too am seeing hours and hours of work ahead of me, plus I’m not sure how to recover much of the lost text.

I can’t confirm that since I have reverted back to 2.1.20.
I can tell you that it’s random and I do have html tags.

Could you please tell me if “Alt & Title Text / Description Text Truncated” issue has been resolved?

I am hesitant to update.

Since the recent WP 4.7 update, the gallery will not display properly. Only one row will appear per page.

I had same problem and was forced to update to the latest Nextgen but the text and links on my images have been truncated again and no way to fix them as they repeatedly get truncated as soon as i fill in and save the missing details.

Those two are the exact issues I am having also.
Right now, I am kinda stuck between the two issue. I can’t update nor stay with the current version.
This is a bad situation we are in.

@phillliplee – At the moment, all I can offer is for you to send us a Bug Report on these issues. Although we will still only be looking at the current release of NextGEN Gallery for this problem. If you are not comfortable and/or able to update your production site I would recommend you create a staging/test site where the issues persist and submit that for the Bug Report and further review.
