I recently deactivated a plugin that was resizing my images (Simple Image Sizes) as I just installed Shortpixel and they aren’t compatible.

Now all of my gallery images with 2-3 columns are no longer cropping even though I check the box “crop images” within the gallery settings. They appear fine in the editor but when I preview or publish the page they aren’t cropped. Is there a setting within the theme that would be able to solve this issue?

I’m not familiar with coding so I would appreciate an elementary-level response. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @lovestobegreen,

Thanks for getting in touch, and we appreciate you using our Kale theme! ??

I see what you mean, and unfortunately there isn’t a setting in the theme itself for this, since the theme doesn’t manage or control the images within the galleries.

Out of curiosity, did Simple Image Sizes’ or ShortPixel’s support indicate that their plugins were no longer compatible? I haven’t personally run into issues on sites using both, although it’s been a while, and things may very well have changed recently.

If there is a conflict between the two plugins, there are similar plugins out there that may work as alternatives in a pinch.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Steven,
Thanks for the response. Once I installed ShortPixel, ShortPixel gave a warning that it wasn’t compatible with Simple Image Sizes so that’s when I deactivated it.

Is there an alternative plugin that you would be able to recommend that’s being updated? I knew using Simple Image Sizes was a gamble as it hasn’t been updated in years.

Gotcha, thanks! You’re right, it’s been quite some time. Its simplicity is probably the main reason it’s still working with 100,000+ active installations after all this time. ??

I hate to give you the run around, but if you like ShortPixel pretty well so far, I’d recommend getting in touch with their support to see what alternative suggestions they would offer if they aren’t compatible with Simple Image Sizes.

    Best of luck!
