Gallery captions disappear with 5 columns or more

    Image captions don’t show up in galleries with five or more columns. They come back if you use four columns or fewer.

    FF 45.7.0 ESR
    Win 7

    I tried four other themes and they all display captions in galleries without any problems no matter how many columns are used, so the bug would seem to be specific to Twenty Seventeen.

    This looks like a deliberate design decision, but you could use some custom CSS to fix it (Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS):

    .gallery-columns-5 .gallery-caption {

}

    Wow, thank you! It worked. I spent hours troubleshooting this in every conceivable setting and trying various gallery plugins.
