• I’m working on a local server which is configured to work the same as the remote server so am unable to provide a link but I can send a screenshot if required, although this forum doesn’t appear to provide this possibility.

This line of code appears in the front end after every gallery: ” alt=”some text here” data-mce-placeholder=”1″ /> It does not appear in the visual editor but obviously does in the text editor because it is part of the gallery code.

I have deactivated every plugin except Nextgen and this makes no difference. I am using the very commonly used theme Customizr and a child theme. It is the latest version and an update half an hour ago made no difference.

I am using Mamp Pro on a Mac. The error displays the same in Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Opera. I have not tested it in IE.

Anyone’s help will be appreciated, but please read what I’ve written and don’t respond with questions which are already answered in my text. I’m always amazed when people do this!

    Thanks…

@mintjelly – Two things to look at first: check if this still happens if you switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme; and, although not likely the case, NextGEN Gallery works best on MAMP if you use the default Apache ports (80 and 3306 for localhost and MySQL respectively) … but if that is the issue at hand it would manifest differently.

    Thanks Cais,

I used the twenty thirteen theme and the code disappeared.

Bingo. Where to from here? I wish I had checked this myself and saved 24 hours of waiting for a clue as to how to proceed.

Do I use a different gallery? A total pain because I’ve spent time adding at least 30 galleries to this website.

Using a different theme is out of the question.

@mintjelly – Given that NextGEN Gallery works fine with Twenty Thirteen, you might look at the theme code yourself and/or work with the theme author to get this sorted out. As a local installation there is not much more we can offer as far as troubleshooting steps to consider.
