• Hi,

I have the standard wordpress gallery, and it’s configured to show 4 columns. This works ok on the laptop, but on phone view it only shows items in one column.

I guess with css it can be forced to display 4 columns also on phone view, but after searching during days, I can’t find how to achieve it.

This also happens with Visual Portfolio plugin, i also tried with that, but exactly the same… I can’t manage to see the four columns on the phone.

Maybe the solution is not with css, maybe i should use a container or set something up… i dont know..

can anyone help me on that please?

    thanks in advance!!!

  • Hello,
How do you proceed to edit the CSS of your website?

Displaying 4 columns on mobile is possible but keep in mind that the images will be quite small and therefore difficult to read for certain people.

I will look into the Visual Portfolio plugin.

Hi pixelspy and thanks for replying!

I haven’t edited css for my site, i see there are places where I can place css code to alter the control behaviour but I don’t know the css code to be added.

Well, the optimal option for me would be using Visual Portfolio plugin, but even having it configured to display 4 columns… only 1 is displayed on phone view..

    thanks for your help!!

    Hello again,
OK can you share the URL of the page you have issues with please ?
With Visual Portfolio Plugin, are you using Portfolio items or Portfolio Layouts ?

My pleasure, let’s find the solution together.

    Hey

It seems like this is still the case:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/change-number-of-columns-in-mobile-devices/

Do you have the PRO version of the plugin ?
Otherwise, you need to add CSS. A custom CSS editor (usually titled Additional CSS) is included in the Customizer as of WordPress 4.7 specifically for this purpose.
This is the official W3 page that shows you how to create a responsive grid:
    https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_image_grid_responsive.asp

I hope that can help you ?

    Hi again,

    the site is https://automodelismo.rf.gd/

you’ll see in the main menu 2 options: “normal page” which has the Visual Portfolio item, and “Elementor page” which has the same, but using Elementor plugin.

I think i tried using both, portfolio items and layouts, but now i have layouts.

I think there’s no PRO version still, i looked for it but I could find it.

I checked https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_image_grid_responsive.asp but still I don’t know how to write the css code which would allow it to display 4 or 5 columns… ??

    Hey

Ok I will check if I can manage to do it and I will send you a CSS code snippet and explanations on how to add them in the WordPress back-office.

I’m in France and it’s evening time, so I will get back to you tomorrow as soon as possible.

    Hello again,

It seems like Elementor plugin offers what you are looking to do.

    Hi!

i had watched that video but it works when you’ve got independent columms and you can treat them separately. In my case it’s a component “as a whole”, compact.

I guess the only solution is css here…

    Hey again,
I’m afraid that one column is by design with those kind of plugins.
    Overriding CSS will be challenging.
Maybe look for a plugin that offers what you want to achieve ?

    Hi pixelspy!

well, I read the creators of the plugin answered a post saying it can be achieved with css… but didn’t say how.. I asked but got no answer.

Yeah I tried other portfolio plugins, but same thing..
