Before the latest update, I could drag and drop images in my gallery in the sidebar. Now I can’t, and I’ve cleared my image cache too. To re-order images, I’m having to delete them and then add them to the gallery again, which defeats the object of having drag and drop.

I have Classic Editor plug-in and all block editors disabled, so if the gallery function is now a block-only function, could that be the problem? And must I be forced to accept it if it is?

    Thank you.

PS I don’t have a gallery plug-in, this is the plug-in that shows up in appearance widgets… am I in the wrong forum?

Looks like there’s a known issue and a fix in the pipeline: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/54902

I used the WP Downgrade Plugin to switch back to 5.8.3 in the meantime.

Same problem here. I hope they fix it.

Yes, this problem is related to the core Media Manager functionality drag and drop problem which was detected by numerous users of WordPress.
    This bug is already detected:
We’re working on a solution for our gallery and core WordPress team also looking for a solution. https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/54902
Also, we’re working on a few alternative solutions for gallery images management.
The first option it’s a drag and drop image sorting for a media manager widget in gallery settings. Where right now you can see a preview of the uploaded, gallery images.
In this case, if we’ll not be able to fix the core media manager we’ll release such functionality for the images widget next week.
Also, we’re working on an absolutely new media management solution for Robo gallery with multi-line edit, and lots of different additional options.
We’re really sorry for the inconvenience. We’re working hard on a solution for our gallery.

Thanks for the update, @robosoft – much appreciated. And thanks to @tjduckett as well for the temporary fix in the meantime. I’ve not had chance to try the temp fix yet, but will do if I have chance before the permanent fix.

Thanks for the update. I’ve been having this issue too. Hopefully it is fixed soon!

Yes, we’re working hard on this fix. I hope we gonna make it next week.

I have the same problem. Looking for solution!

Looks like if you only drag and drop one at a time, it works OK.

Could you please clarify what exactly do you mean? Looks like my photos in media manager also not possible re-order manually.

I’m sorry. I landed on this thread when searching for the same problem with FooGallery plugin. This was resolved by using drag and drop on single images only. I’m guessing this isn’t the case with the standard media gallery. Apologies.

The same issue in my media manager. Do you have some scheduled release date with the fix of this problem?

    (@robosoft)

Today or tomorrow we’re planning the release with the fix of some critical issues related to PHP7.1 and PHP7.4, conflict with gallery options fields, and the most important it’s gallery this images sorting problem.
We really appreciate your patience. Thank you so much!
