• Just installed Gallery Factory v1.3.0. Am trying to organize pictures. I uploaded about 25 to an Album. However it then shows me a list of 25 thumbnails with all the same “description” and “given name”.

The toolbar only lists Name (not filename but a given Name which is the same for all 25), Caption (same for all), Description, date of creation, & filesize. I really need to list the actual filenames. Note there are 10,000 pictures so going by description is unwieldy.

How also do I rename files?

    Hi,
The current lite version only lets you to change image captions and descriptions one-by-one from the image edit dialog. The filename cannot be changed once image is uploaded.
Captions and descriptions are sourced from image metadata during upload, so you may use any EXIF editing tool to set image names in bulk before loading them to Gallery Factory – that’s the most convenient option, to my opinion.

Hi & Thanks for your reply. I am a bit confused by the “current lite version” or any other versions of Gallery Factory? I did purchase a copy of this plugin and must say that it promises to be the best one I’ve ever seen for handling many images. If there is a fuller version of Gallery Factory available, I’ll pay $100 if it’ll do everything I need. WordPress is a great platform but is weird in that it has such poor picture handling capability. All of the other plugins are also ineffective in that “directory creation” is not supported or they have other flaws.

My main problem is in getting a list of the pictures so I can select the right one. My website has lots of similar looking pictures so I can only tell them apart by filename. Thus thumbnails, captions, or descriptions won’t do it. I must have “sort & select by “filename””.

Renaming them isn’t a big deal, I’ll just be very careful when I create & name them in the 1st place. Thus don’t worry about this.

However some thing to allow me to select the images by filename is critical. I mean what’s the point in creating all these image galleries when you can’t pick which image you want to place in a webpage?

I’m sorry for misleading you, I haven’t noticed that you’re writing about the premium plugin (I didn’t expect it here, as usually premium plugin is discussed on it’s page on CodeCanyon or via support requests). There are only 2 variants – Lite (hosted here, on www.ads-software.com) and Premium (available on CodeCanyon, the one you’ve purchased already).
I can understand what is you problem, I’ll add the filename column to the album’s table view.
If you have any further questions, feel free to submit a support request via CodeCanyon. Usually that way you’ll get much better response time.
