    Hi,

the title says it already. It looks like there is a problem with the thumbnail generation.

I assume that FooGallery loads thumbnails first and when I click on a picture, that it loads the picture.

From the loading speed and my somehow limited understanding of dynamic content loading, I conclude that FooGallery actually loads the full size images as thumbnails (checked the HTML code).

I know there are 5 different Galleries on the page, which might not be optimal.
Anyway I believe it should load a lot faster.

    More technical info:
When investigating the problem, I found out that Imagick was not installed, so I did that. FooGallery now confirms that Imagick is in use. The thumbnail generation Test also works. Anyway, I’m not sure if it actually did generate the thumbnails or uses them.

The gallery type is “responsive gallery”. Lazy loading is _not_ disabled. HTML Cache is _not_ active. Anyway I deleted the HTML and CSS Caches. There’s no caching plugin installed.
    FooGallery Version is 1.9.31
Wordpress Version is 5.0.10 (Debian stable, no intention to upgrade)

I’d be glad to get your help.

    Best regards,
    Christoph

Do you think there could be a problem with other plugins?

I am also confused by that behaviour. You can test to see if there is plugin conflict, but the only way is to deactivate all other plugins except FooGallery

    Hi,
I’ve deactivated all the other plugins, even the FooFox Lightbox. Then I’ve deleted the cache.

In the backend the preview works perfectly well. Just the frontend still loads the full size image.

Do you have any other ideas?

Is there anything I could have done to mess things up? ??

    Cheers, Christoph

    Hi again,
for some reason after re-activating all the plugins, FooGallery works fine on my desktop with firefox (for now). But it just ate around 100 MB of my mobile data volume (opera). Also the test with gmetrix displays 36 MB of download volume.

Apparently the behaviour depends on the device used to view the page.

Usually I use firefox, when I open the page in chromium it also works fine (right now, maybe not in 5 minuts, who knows).

    Any help appreciated.

Now it stopped working again ??

Apparently chromium just cached the pictures.

I guess there’s something in FooGallery that get’s triggered whenever I change some settings, clear the cache, etc. Then it works fine for a few minutes and falls back to the buggy behaviour.

I had another look and still cannot figure this issue out, so I think I need to investigate further. Please contact me brad @ fooplugins . com
