Gallery Orderby Not Updated on Front End

  • Changes to the gallery order are saved but do not appear on the front end.

    After changing the order of images via the Visual Editor > Edit Gallery, and updating the gallery, these changes have been saved. This is confirmed by editing the gallery again (which shows the saved order), and by viewing the Text Editor, where the order of ids in the [gallery] shortcode has been changed.

    However none of this has any effect on the front end, where the orderby is not menu_order. Clearing cookies/cache has not helped.

    One of the pages in question: https://www.winenglishinc.com/clients/, where the “Yalta” image would be in the top left corner, if orderby=”menu_editor” were being respected.

    I have a dev version of the site on my local machine, and the same behavior is observed with themes Twenty Eleven and Twenty Twelve, so I don’t think it’s a theme issue.

  • Have you checked and seen if it still behaves that way with all plugins disabled? Just wondering if there might be a conflict happening.

    Thank you, @graphical_force, I was able to find the problem thanks to your suggestion. Deactivating all the plugins made the gallery order work. By turning them all on one by one I was able to find the plugin with the conflict. A plugin which has not been updated in a while…
