• Hi all,

I am struggling to add galleries to my posts with ease and simplcity.

Is there any way galleries can be added with a simple lightbox effect such as is done on Posterous? For e.g. as is done on this site: https://kathykavan.com/

Here is a post on my site: https://chikamokwe.com/2010/09/17/torleifur-gunnar-gislason/
I posted this gallery using the usual method of uploading the images and then clicking on the gallery tab to insert the gallery.

    QUESTIONS:
    – Is there a way of doing this on the fly with ‘PRESS THIS’?
    – Can I make the thumbnails smaller?
    – How do stop the thumbnails linking to a page with the image but rather present them using a lightbox effect?

I’ve tried the lightbox-2 plugin, NextGen and I’ve tried uploading Gallery2 but I’m really struggling because I’m not that great with CSS.

I’ve read you can customise galleries with the Gallery shotcode Codex?
Are there ways to implement a lightbox effect or to customise the thumbnail size using this codex?

Any tips or advice would be great.

    Many thanks,
    Chika.

    Not that I’m aware of…

Yes. Check your thumbnail settings in Settings/Media.

The easiest option to try some lightbox/shadowbox plugins.

    Hi Esmi,
    Thanks for your response.

I have uploaded the Lightbox-2 plugin but it doesn’t seem to have any effect on my gallery. I’ve checked and it’s activated.

Any tips on how I get this to control my gallery images?

    Thanks,
    C.

Try another plugin? It may take quite a few trias before you find one that suits your purposes.

So I take it once a lightbox plugin is added this should automatically control any images on your blog… Is this correct?

I think NextGen is what you looking for as all you have to is add a shortcode in the post where you want the gallery to show.

It very much depends upon the individual plugin. Always take the time to read the installation & configuration instructions carefully. Some plugins require you to make changes to your theme files.

I just put galley form NextGen on one of the post took few seconds check it out hare
