• Like many are reporting, after the 3.6.5 update, there was a random letter “q” in the top left corner of the screen. This had a profound effect on the site, from breaking admin login attempts to producing errors when updating plugins, and more. It took hours to figure this out because I didn’t think it was possible for such a blatant mistake to get pushed in a plugin update in the year 2024. Well, I was wrong.

We’ve scrapped the entire plugin and simply rolled the code into our theme file like we should have in the first place.

Avoid this plugin at all costs. They clearly have zero code review process and simply push half-baked updates.

  • After spending way longer than I would have liked trying to determine the cause, we just did the exact same thing. I migrated the snippets into our functions.php file and then uninstall the plugin.

My apologies @ekazda and @ckite. The issue here was not with the code review process, as it did not arise from a bug in the plugin, but instead an issue that occurred when deploying. Still, it’s something that absolutely should have been caught sooner, and we are currently making efforts to streamline and strengthen our release process to ensure this will not ever occur again in the future.
