I have been using GDE without any issues for a few years, but after our hosting company turned off the Apache redirect module, forcing us to use Chrome Virtual Hosts browser extension to preview our site in-progress, GDE can’t seem to locate our PDF files anymore.

All our pages with embedded PDF docs come up with “GDE Error: Error retrieving file – if necessary turn off error checking (404:Not Found)”.

I’m hoping this will be resolved when we go live and actually point our domain to the new site. I’m thinking the Virtual Hosts way of accessing the site is messing with GDE. But it’s very hard for my client to review the site, when all our PDF pages show errors.

Is there a way to fix this prior to going live? And, will getting our domain directed to our new site, so that we can access it directly without Chrome/Virtual Hosts get GDE working again?

Thanks for the great work on this plugin, and for the help.

Sorry for the delay in writing.

Hopefully you will have resolved the issue now, but in any case it sounds like a question for your web hosting company.

If your documents are not available at the URLs you specify (try entering the URL into a new browser window) then there is no way for the plugin to pick them up.
