    Hey,
does this plugin add anything that has to be taken into consideration regarding GDPR?

As far as I can see, it doesn’t set any cookies and doesn’t connect to any external servers, is that correct?
And when an image is embedded, it doesn’t link to the external source but uses base64 encoding?

    Thank you, that’s great!
It should help many people because strictly speaking, you can’t just embed external content under GDPR without the visitors’ consent. Most people don’t care but it’s true.

Anyway, do you already have a timeline for this?

The code you posted didn’t work for me. But I have tried codes like this since yesterday non-stop and none of them worked. I don’t know why, there must something be interfering.

@flizzywp It will be definitely in February. Currently I plan to release the next update in the coming week, but I cannot 100% promise it.

Thanks. Will it use a different approach than the one above? Because all these additions to the functions.php are not working for me.

Yes, I will make a couple of changes in the content-generation so the oembed-function is not getting executed there.

Here are the required code-changes for it if you want to apply the changes manually in the meantime:

    Yes! It works!
Man, that really made my day because I’ve been trying to get this to work non-stop!

    Outstanding support!

I just noticed that you can still embed images by copying them and pasting them directly. Is there a way to avoid this? To disable that someone can paste an image directly into the editor? And any other content for that matter?

I have a better idea: is it possible to have everything that is pasted into Asgaros be pasted as “non-formatted” text? As if you press Ctrl+Shift+V instead of Ctrl+V?
That would solve all the weird scenarios how people could paste stuff into the editor.

Copying images directly into the editor should not be possible as far as I know. Not sure if this is a TinyMCE-bug or not, but its nothing that I can fix/change by myself because its a WordPress-component which is also used in the backend for editing pages/posts.

The same holds for the copy&paste. Its default behavior of the WordPress editor so admins can copy&paste parts between posts without losing stylings. As before I cant just “change” this inside Asgaros Forum because the editor is not a part of the forum-plugin. It just uses this WordPress component. If I make changes to it, it will affect the WordPress core and all other plugins which are using the editor in some kind of way.

I would suggest you to check out editor-plugins for this like TinyMCE Advanced which allows you to control the editor.

Here is also an article regarding the styling-problems:
    https://sundari-webdesign.com/wordpress-removing-classes-styles-and-tag-attributes-from-pasted-content/

It looks complex and I have no clue if it works. But I definitely cannot add this kind of stuff to the forum-plugin because the risk that I break existing functionality of WordPress or plugins which are used by other users is too high.

If there will be some easy kind of way to implement or adjust this in the future, I can give it a try and will implement it as long as it works reliable.

Hm, seems to be very difficult to get this running in a GDPR compliant way. I tested it in your forum and there I can copy paste images as well.
This is problematic in terms of GDPR because it creates a connection to an external server. I am German as well so I need to take this serious.

    Was meinst du genau?
