I have a few questions afterall:

    1) When a user signs up via Buddypress, the tick box in the wordpress profile is not checked?

    2) GDPR: Does a user have to opt-in and accept Email-marketing in their Mailchimp-profile after subscription via WordPress?

    3) In the ‘default opt-in status’ I have chosen ‘not subscribed’ – does this mean that a subscriper is removed from my list when they login to wp-site?

    Thanks,
    Lars

  • I have similar question about GDPR compliant.
Since we are using the auto user sync, if we change to double opt-in or user must opt-in, how do our user know they have to actively subscribe? It looks like the plugin just sync user data to MailChimp as unsubscribe and nothing else. I use the sync feature because I want to automate the process, but now it seems I have to manually inform our user to sign in for a subscription. Am I missed something? For me, the workflow should be
User created in WP > user sync to MailChimp as unsubscribe > mail trigger to user for consent or unsubscribe
Does it make sense? How could I manage to do it?

You can set Default opt-in status to Subscribed (box checked) or Unsubscribed under MailChimp for Wp > UserSync

    2) GDPR: Does a user have to opt-in and accept Email-marketing in their Mailchimp-profile after subscription via WordPress?

You can set Double opt-in on or off under MailChimp for Wp > UserSync

    3) In the ‘default opt-in status’ I have chosen ‘not subscribed’ – does this mean that a subscriper is removed from my list when they login to wp-site?

Yes! We suggest to always start with a blank list to sync usersync with.

You could set Default opt-in status to Subscribed and Double Opt-in to Yes, that way new users will receive the opt-in email. You can also look into the WordPress user registration integration under MailChimp for Wp > Integrations.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!

    Thanks Lap, that is helpful.

If I choose ‘subscribed’ as default, will all of my 900 users receive an opt-in mail, or is it only triggered when a non subscription user logs in to my site?

    Whouw, somehow missed this post.

Better late than never: If you set opt-in to yes, and subscribed to yes all your users that are not already opt-in will receive the opt-in email.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!
