GDPR: avoiding external files access by Theme (Google Fonts)

First thing, you can disable the Google font in OnePress theme in Customize => Theme Options => Global: https://cl.ly/231v2y1O0I2i

But sorry, we don’t have the option to use font files stored locally.

Ok, i will try to follow indications (google search) later as I need more time do understand and do that.
If possible please include the option to use font files stored locally in the future as fallback to Times New Roman as standard font with option “Disable Google Fonts” is not really an option and custom CSS reconstruction is not easy and may break with theme updates.

GDPR compliant WP themes are becoming a factor for anyone having European customers, users or visitors. I wonder why I do not see more advertising regarding this.

@famethemes: I mean I did see little to no Themes who took the GDPR as a chance by easily supporting WP-Theme users in compliance and promoting this build-in support.
By difference many WP-Plugins did make updates caused by the GDPR and also WP-Core had a step in this direction, which is good.

I understand. But because not almost the theme save the user data so they don’t need to update GDPR.

For example, the OnePress is just a simple one-page template, it doesn’t save or store any user data information.

That is why you see WP-Core or WP-Plugins did make updates instead of WP-Themes ??

@famethemes: Most Themes like Onepress do not store user data, but they link to servers collecting visitor information like Google Fonts, JS-Libraries, CDNs, etc. which is regulated by GDPR. So any options avoiding this are an advantage for a Theme.
Also a Theme could by design (CSS, etc.) support GDPR functions like consent windows introduced by WP-Core privacy page or other widely used plugins so that the layout is consistent.
Just my 2 cents…

– All JS-libraries are stored locally, not connect to third-party sites.
– We don’t have any CDNs.
– The Google fonts API collects a very limited set of information and uses it only for serving the font to your site. You can read more about the data Google collects, stores, and uses in connection with Google fonts here: https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq.

Thanks also for the interest. I was talking generally of WP Themes not only Onepress. If you add an Option to load Fonts locally I would add that as info to the Theme description.

We should have an option to store the font files locally so the theme can be considered GDPR compliant. @famethemes Can you please add that?
